Two Auxiliary Bishops to be Ordained for Washington on July 7
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Media are invited to the July 7 ordination of two local priests as auxiliary bishops for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington.
Pope Leo XIV on May 1, 2026 named Reverend Gary R. Studniewski and Reverend Robert P. Boxie III to serve as auxiliary bishops in the archdiocese.
Archbishop of Washington Cardinal Robert McElroy will ordain the two new bishops in a Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, in the presence of their family members, current and former parishioners, and more than 170 priests and bishops from this archdiocese and around the United States. Cardinal Wilton Gregory, Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, and Bishop Mark E. Brennan, Bishop Emeritus of Wheeling-Charleston, will serve as co-consecrators.
