Retired Priests Collection

Archdiocese of Washington priests have selflessly served the faithful and the community to continue Christ’s mission for decades, and in some cases, more than a half century.

Our priests have been there for each of us and our families in providing spiritual support – year in and year out – for our entire lives.

Please join the tens of thousands of the faithful in being there for them to assist in the dignity of their retirement and to honor their lives of service through support of the annual Retired Priests Collection.

This year’s retired priest collection takes place during the weekend of November 2-3. This year, there are six ways to support the Retired Priests Collection:

Donate Online

Office of Development, Archdiocese of Washington,
P.O. Box 29260
Washington, DC 20017-0260

In Pew Donation

Envelopes will be provided in the pews at Mass on November 2 and 3 for you to enclose your support.

IRA Transfers

If you are age 70 ½ or older, you can transfer up to $100,000 each year directly from your traditional IRA account to support the Retired Priests Collection.

This smart way to give may satisfy a portion or all of your annual required minimum distribution (RMD) and serve as a qualified charitable distribution for your IRA, which can save you on taxes even if you do not itemize! Contact your plan custodian to complete the IRA transfer. Call Joe Gillmer at (301) 853-5375 for assistance. The Archdiocese of Washington’s tax identification number (EIN) is 53-0196550.

Important note on IRA Transfers: This special way to give only applies to traditional or ROTH IRAs, not 401k, 403b or other types of retirement plans. In addition, you must be 70 ½ or older age when you are required to begin taking distributions.

Stocks/Bonds

Gifts of long-term, appreciated stocks and bonds provide a potential double benefit: You will be eligible for both a charitable tax deduction for the value of the securities on the day you transfer, and you may not be responsible for taxes on any gains from the time you acquired them. To make a gift of stock for the benefit of the Retired Priests Collection, please provide the following to your broker to initiate the transfer:

Firm to Transfer Securities to: Folger Nolan Fleming Douglas, Inc.
DTC Number: 0141
Account Number: 7911-6241

Note to send with transfer: “[Your name] – for Retired Priests Collection
