There are many ways you can support the 2024 Annual Catholic Services
Appeal! Below are instructions for giving by check, by credit or debit card, Faith Direct, stock gift, IRA transfer, or other method of donation. All gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington IRS tax identification number (EIN) is 53-0196550. 2024 Annual Catholic Services Appeal Gift Chart

Please prayerfully examine your current charitable giving and consider making a gift to our 2024 Annual Catholic Services Appeal.

We’ve created the chart here as a helpful guide.

 


By Check

Please make your check payable to the Annual Catholic Services Appeal and send it along with your completed form to:

Please include your parish and city on the form and the memo line of your check.

If you are making your gift by money order, certified check, donor-advised fund, IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution, or a foundation, please ask the administrator to include your name and parish on the memo line or check stub.

Credit Card or Direct Debit Donations

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards. You can also make donations from a checking account via direct debit.

You can either click h​e​r​e​ to donate online or download the
pledge f​o​r​m​, complete the required sections and mail the form to the address shown at the bottom of this page (the address is also on the pledge form).

Through Faith Direct

Click here and choose to enroll in Faith Direct’s recurring e-giving program or to make a one-time donation to the Annual Catholic Services Appeal.

By opting to enroll in the recurring e-giving program, you will be redirected to a second page where you can create a 2024 Annual Catholic Services Appeal Pledge that ends on December 31, 2024. Or you may make Annual Catholic Services Appeal monthly sustainer gifts. The portal will then guide you as you setup your account and donation.

By clicking the one-time gift option, you will be redirected to a second page where you’ll enter your gift amount and credit, debit, or bank information. You will then click “process now” to complete your gift.

If you already have an account with Faith Direct, you can go to My Account in the top right navigation bar of your account and then choose Give to Another Church. You will find us by using our parish code DC158 in the search bar.


IRA Transfers as Qualified Charitable Distributions

If you are age 70 1/2 or older, you can transfer up to $100,000 each year directly from your traditional IRA account to the Church of Washington as a qualified charitable distribution (aka QCD). If you are subject to an annual required minimum distribution (RMD), this qualified charitable distribution can satisfy part, or even all (up to $100,000) of the RMD, which can save you on taxes even if you do not itemize!

  • Contact your plan custodian to complete a Charitable IRA Transfers (QCDs).

Important notes on IRA Transfers:

  • This special way to give applies to traditional or ROTH IRAs. Other retirement plans, such as the 401k, 403b and others do NOT qualify.
  • If your IRA custodian provides you with an IRA checkbook where you can directly write the check to the Archdiocese of Washington, please consider mailing the check no later than December 10. Due to different IRS requirements for this type of transfer, we need the necessary time to process your generous gift.
  • IRA transfers now qualify as an asset that can fund a charitable gift annuity, up to a one-time amount of $50,000. Please contact Joe Gillmer at [email protected] or (301) 853-5375 to learn more.

Donor Advised Funds

We accept grants from Donor Advised Funds for any ministry program of the Church, including the Annual Catholic Services Appeal! If you have a donor advised fund held by Fidelity Charitable or Schwab Charitable, click here to process your donor advised fund recommended grant.

Combined Federal Campaign

Members of the Federal community can now support the Church of Washington (#71625) through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)! Employees of the Federal government, active duty military, United States Postal Service, Federal government retirees, and Federal government contractors are all able to give through the CFC program!
