The celebration of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord commemorates the visit of the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary to inform her that she was to be the mother of our Savior.

The Basilica of the Nations Shrine of the Immaculate Conception will have Mass for the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord at multiple dates and times. All are welcome.

At the Annunciation, God revealed the Good News to the Virgin Mary, inviting her into salvation history. In saying yes, Mary agreed to God’s plan, despite the fears, sufferings, and unknowns that came with it. It is on this day that we celebrate the Incarnation: God becoming one with us. Mary is the instrument for the Incarnation, the link between heaven and earth. In her holiness she received inside of her the infinite love of God, revealing to us the potential of our humanity, what we are all called to.

En la Anunciación, Dios reveló la Buena Nueva a la Virgen María, invitándola a formar parte de la historia de la salvación. Al dar su «sí», María aceptó el plan de Dios, a pesar de los temores, los sufrimientos y las incertidumbres que este conllevaba. Es en este día cuando celebramos la Encarnación: Dios haciéndose uno con nosotros. María es el instrumento de la Encarnación, el vínculo entre el cielo y la tierra.
