The Cause: Catholic Education
Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Washington, rooted in Gospel values and the teaching mission of the Catholic Church, are learning communities of faith and service dedicated to educational equity and excellence for all students. The Catholic Schools Office of the Archdiocese of Washington is committed to the education and formation of more than 25,000 students who attend the 90 schools of the Archdiocese annually. Net proceeds of the reception and concert will provide critical support for the Catholic Schools Office Academic Excellence, Teacher Collaboration Days, and the Eighth Grade Day Out faith formation programs.
About the Band
Vertical Horizon formed in 1991 by Georgetown University undergraduate students Matt Scannell and Keith Kane. Vertical Horizon exploded onto the national music scene in 2000 with their certified double platinum 1999 album Everything You Want, including the number one hit “Everything You Want” and other hits “We Are,” “You’re a God,” and “Best I Ever Had” on the Billboard 100 charts. “Everything You Want” was Billboard’s Most Played Song of 2000. The band’s 2003 Go album featured the hit “I’m still here.” Vertical Horizon has released seven albums since 1992, including their latest, The Lost Mile in 2018.
