Holy Week and Easter Events Open to Media Coverage

Liturgies for the holiest time in the Christian year are open to all and will be livestreamed.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Cardinal Wilton Gregory will open Holy Week in The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington by celebrating Palm Sunday Mass at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 11 a.m.

Later in the week, Cardinal Gregory will preside over the solemn rituals of the Triduum – Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil – followed by the joyous celebrations of Easter Sunday.

In addition to liturgies at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, some of the celebrations will be held at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. All worshippers are welcome. The liturgies will all be livestreamed, with the videos posted on the Archdiocesan YouTube channel.

Parishes throughout the Archdiocese will offer similar schedules of Holy Week and Easter liturgies in many languages. See our parish directory, which is searchable by name, location or  language.

Here is the schedule for liturgies to be celebrated by Cardinal Gregory, unless another celebrant is noted. Media are welcome to attend.
