Cardinal Wuerl to Celebrate Canonization of St. John XXIII and St. John Paul II

WASHINGTON – Cardinal Donald Wuerl, archbishop of Washington, will celebrate two Masses of Thanksgiving for the canonization of St. John XXIII and St. John Paul II. Cardinal Wuerl concelebrated the Mass with Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican on April 27 where Popes John XXIII and John Paul II were named new saints of the Catholic Church.

Following the Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Cardinal Wuerl will lead a procession to the St. John Paul II Shrine, which is located at 3900 Harewood Road N.E.,Washington, DC 20017. In March the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops designated the facility dedicated to St. John Paul II as a national shrine.
