Martin Luther King Day Mass Set For Sunday, January 19

Cardinal Wilton Gregory will preside over celebration in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The annual archdiocesan celebration for the birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will feature Howard University’s Gospel choir and Cardinal Wilton Gregory as principal celebrant and homilist on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

This observance by The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington both honors the legacy of Dr. King and serves for participants to recommit to work for social justice.

Cardinal Gregory is completing his tenure as Archbishop of Washington, after Pope Francis on January 6 named San Diego Cardinal Robert McElroy to succeed him. Cardinal McElroy will be installed as Archbishop on March 11, 2025.
