Holy Week and Easter Celebrations

Liturgies for the holiest time in the Christian year are open to all and will be livestreamed.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Cardinal Robert McElroy will open Holy Week in The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington by celebrating an 11 a.m. Palm Sunday Mass at The Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle on Palm Sunday, April 13.

Later in the week, Cardinal McElroy will preside over the sacred mysteries of the Paschal Triduum, which is Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil on Saturday evening– followed by the joyous celebration of Mass on Easter Sunday, as specified in the schedule below.

In addition to liturgies at The Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, some of the celebrations will be held at The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

All worshippers and media are welcome. The liturgies will be livestreamed and posted on the Archdiocesan YouTube channel.

Our Catholic parishes throughout the Archdiocese will offer similar schedules for Holy Week and Easter in many languages. See our parish directory, which is searchable by name, location and/or language.
