Archdiocese of Washington Launches Cardinal Wuerl Podcast
“Seek First the Kingdom” podcast is new way to introduce people to Gospel message
October 24, 2013
HYATTSVILLE, Md. – The Archdiocese of Washington today launched Seek First the Kingdom, a podcast of homilies, prayers and remarks featuring Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington.
The podcast is available at http://podcast.adw.org and on iTunes under the Religion and Spirituality category.
“Pope Francis recently described the task that is central to the New Evangelization – building the Church by helping people ‘rediscover, through the means of social communications as well as by personal contact, the beauty that is at the heart of our existence and journey, the beauty of faith and the beauty of the encounter with Christ,’” said Angela Flood, Secretary for Communications for the archdiocese. “Similarly, Blessed John Paul II, during his papacy, encouraged us to share the Gospel message in a way that is ‘new in its ardor, new in its methods, and new in its expression.’ The Seek First the Kingdom podcast is just one of many new media tools the archdiocese is employing to help people grow in their knowledge of the faith and confidence in its truth so they may share it more fully with others.”
In addition to the podcast, the Archdiocese of Washington is active on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, and Cardinal Wuerl writes a blog, also called Seek First the Kingdom.
The Archdiocese of Washington is home to over 620,000 Catholics, 139 parishes and 96 Catholic schools, located in Washington, DC, and five Maryland counties: Calvert, Charles, Montgomery, Prince George’s and St. Mary’s.
