Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month, or as it is also known, American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month. The month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people, according to the National Congress of American Indians.
As The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington celebrates National Native American Heritage Month, it is vital to highlight the presence of Native Americans in the Catholic community. We want to encourage you to learn more about the achievements, identity, beauty, and richness of our Native American communities during celebratory and historically significant commemorations.
We invite you to dive deeper into the lives of these inspiring Native American Catholics and the causes that support them. See the links here to explore more: Saint Kateri – Servant of God Nicholas W. Black Elk– Martyrs of La Florida, Servants of God Antonio Cuipa and Companions.
