Join the Georgetown University Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life for an online public dialogue exploring the progress, promises, and challenges of racial justice in America. Grounded in the truth that racism is a radical sin and a fundamental moral failure, Catholic social teaching calls the Church to actively protect human dignity, defend the common good, and build a more inclusive society. This conversation will examine modern challenges to civil rights, including legislative and judicial pressures on the Voting Rights Act, through the lens of Gospel values and the call to solidarity.

Bishop-elect Robert Boxie III

Bishop-elect Robert Boxie III: Recently appointed by Pope Leo XIV as Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Washington. As the longtime Catholic chaplain at Howard University, Bishop-elect Boxie brings an essential pastoral perspective on campus ministry, racial equity, and the evangelization of the Black Catholic community.

Melvin Rogers: Professor and associate director of the Center for Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Brown University.

Diann Rust-Tierney: Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Human Rights and Center for Clinical Programs at the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law.

Kimberly Mazyck (Moderator): Associate Director for Engagement at the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life.
