Archdiocese of Washington Launches Interactive Program to Explore Local Catholic Sites
June 7, 2014
Faith Quest Will Run from June 7 to Sept. 7
WASHINGTON – The Archdiocese of Washington is bringing back an interactive summer program called Faith Quest that encourages people to connect to their faith by making pilgrimages to local Catholic historical and spiritual sites.
Over a three month period, participants in Faith Quest, which debuted last summer, will have the opportunity to visit 25 sites in the archdiocese of historical or spiritual significance. This year’s program includes several new pilgrimage sites that were added to celebrate the archdiocese’s 75th anniversary.
Activity guides will be available at each site as well as online. As participants visit the sites, they will learn about the treasures of local Catholic heritage, have the chance to pray and complete an activity. Participants will receive a special stamp in their Pilgrimage Passport when visiting each site. Eight or more passport stamps collected between June 7 and September 7 will earn an invitation to a closing party at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land and a chance to win prizes.
The archdiocese also will host two guided tours of additional parishes and sites. On Saturday, June 14, participants can join the archdiocese for a tour of parishes in and around Capitol Hill. The tour will begin at 8:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s on Capitol Hill, 313 2nd St. N.E., Washington, DC 20002, followed by visits to St. Patrick, St. Peter and St. Dominic parishes. On Saturday, Aug. 16, participants can join the archdiocese for a tour of the Brookland neighborhood. The tour will begin at 8:15 a.m. at the Dominican House of Studies, 487 Michigan Ave. N.E., Washington, DC 20017, followed by visits to the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, St. John Paul II National Shrine and the chapel at the St. John Paul II Seminary.
