Over 200 Local Catholic Parishioners to Be Honored with “Manifesting the Kingdom” Award

HYATTSVILLE, Md. – Cardinal Donald Wuerl, archbishop of Washington, will honor 204 individuals from parishes and Catholic organizations across the Archdiocese of Washington for their exceptional service to the local church on Epiphany Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

At the conclusion of Mass, the cardinal will present each honoree with an individual award. This will be the second time that the “Manifesting the Kingdom” award has been given out in the Archdiocese of Washington since Cardinal Wuerl became archbishop in 2006.

Each pastor was invited to nominate an individual or couple to receive the award. In addition, nominations were sought from major superiors of religious communities as well as corporations and those who serve the Church outside of the parish structure.
