For Youth Ministers
Adult Formation and Certification
The Office of Youth Ministry is committed to training and developing youth ministers both professionally and spiritually and offers trainings for full-time, part-time and volunteer catechists. National speakers and trainers present on a wide variety of important topics related to the field of youth ministry.
Regional Youth Ministry Meetings
At least twice a year, there will be an opportunity for youth ministers to meet regionally to pray together, share ideas and support each other.
For youth ministers seeking a comprehensive formation program and would like to work towards a Basic Certificate in Youth Ministry, we recommend Franciscan at Home, an online learning program.
National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry
The National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) is the national organization for youth ministry in the United States. The NFCYM looks to a future when young people see themselves as children of God who live as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ; when the gifts, struggles and diverse realities of young people are welcomed in Catholic faith communities; when pastoral ministry leaders have embraced the joy of the Gospel, and when families are living as the domestic Church.
The NFCYM commits to advancing the field of pastoral ministry to young people by: forming, equipping, and supporting pastoral leaders in their ministry to young people and their families; modeling and fostering a ministry of acompañamiento among young people of all cultures, languages, socioeconomic and geographic realities; and, partnering with parents and equipping families of young people as they witness to Jesus Christ in their daily lives.
National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry
Sponsored by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry, the biennial National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry (NCCYM) is the largest conference in the country for adults who minister to and with Catholic youth. Join thousands of your colleagues—youth and campus ministers, religious education leaders, clergy and religious, young adult ministers, performers, artists and volunteers—for three days of inspiring keynotes, challenging workshops, dynamic prayer and worship, extensive networking, hundreds of resource exhibits, and good-hearted entertainment. The next conference will be December 10-12, 2020, at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. For more information, please visit the NCCYM website.
National Catholic Youth Conference
Every other year, Catholic young people and their chaperones—youth ministers, campus ministers, parents, catechists, priests, coaches, and scout leaders—come together to pray, learn, and grow in their faith. In addition to opportunities to receive the sacraments of the Eucharist and penance, NCYC participants attend general and breakout sessions on topics relevant to living as a disciple of Christ in today’s world, visit with organizations that provide resources and other support to youth and youth ministry, spend time in personal and communal prayer, and engage in service to others.
The next NCYC is November 21-23, 2019, in Indianapolis, IN. For more information, please visit the NCYC website. If you would like more information on bringing a group to NCYC, please email [email protected].
