Thousands to Hear Teen-Chastity Message

October 01, 2002

Abstinence among teens is on the rise according to a report just issued by the Centers for Disease Control, with 54 percent of teenagers surveyed delaying having sex.

Nationally known chastity speakers Jason Evert and Crystalina Padilla will bring this message to some 5,000 Washington-area teenagers Oct. 6-10, talking frankly during several “Chastity Day 2002” appearances, including:

Monday, October 7, 2002
7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
St. Peter Church
3320 St. Peter Drive, Waldorf, MD
230 teens from Southern Maryland Catholic youth groups

Thursday, October 10, 2002
10:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m.
St. Mary Church
520 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD
700 seventh- and eighth-grade students from Montgomery and Prince George’s County Catholic schools

Catholics in their 20s who have spoken to tens of thousands of teens on chastity, Evert and Padilla have credibility with teens in part because they practice what they preach in their own dating.

Evert is actively involved in the Governor’s Program for Abstinence in Louisiana and is author of “Pure Love,” which challenges young people to live chastely. He is a frequent guest on national radio programs and has appeared on global television programs, including on EWTN. Padilla has joined him in bringing inspirational testimony to teenagers about the importance of living chastely.

Evert and Padilla’s appearances are sponsored by the Archdiocese of Washington.
