Special Second Collection to Aid Relief Efforts in Japan

March 18, 2011

On Friday, March 11, a major earthquake and tsunami struck northern Japan. This disaster has resulted in massive devastation and the deaths of thousands of people. An estimated 500,000 have been left homeless as a result of this natural disaster.

In response to the great need of the Japanese people during this difficult time, parishes in the Archdiocese of Washington will support relief efforts through a special collection over the next two weekends (March 19-20 and March 26-27, 2011). The funds will be forwarded to Catholic Relief Services, which is working directly with Caritas Japan.

Please keep the people affected by this terrible tragedy in your prayers.
