Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Message of Peace

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy of peace and unity will be celebrated this month during the Archdiocese of Washington’s annual Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Mass:

St. Camillus Church
1600 St. Camillus Drive, Silver Spring, MD

Bishop Francisco González, auxiliary bishop of Washington, will be the principal celebrant. Monsignor Ray East, director of the Office of Black Catholics for the Archdiocese of Washington, will be the homilist and will preach on the theme of “Celebrate the Dream of Light, Love and Christian Unity.”

Catholics from Washington, DC, suburban and southern Maryland will participate. Music will be provided by two choirs: the Archdiocese of Washington Mass Choir, under the direction of Mr. Al Davis of St. Teresa of Avila parish in Southeast Washington, DC, and the Multicultural Choir of St. Camillus, under the direction of Ms. Tracy McDonnell. Youth from around the archdiocese will give readings, assist with hospitality and offer cultural presentations.
