May 29, 2010

Register now for the Archdiocese of Washington’s 2010 Social Ministry Conference on Saturday, June 12.

This year’s theme is Ambassadors for Christ. The keynote speakers will be Andrea Bartoli and Paola Piscitelli, members and leaders of the Sant’ Egidio Community. Nearly two dozen workshops will cover diverse topics, including prison ministry; pro life and social issues; religion and poverty; globalization; the environment; human trafficking; and starting or revitalizing parish St. Vincent de Paul Societies.

This one-day event will be Saturday, June 12, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at Trinity University (Main Hall, O’Connor Auditorium), 125 Michigan Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20017. The Metro stop is Brookland/CUA on the Red Line.

The $20.00 cost includes lunch and beverages.

Keynote speakers Andrea Bartoli and Paola Piscitelli are husband and wife. As they have lived out their Christian calling they have personally been involved in conflict resolution and efforts to end the use of the death penalty. The keynote presentation is grounded in the conference theme, Ambassadors for Christ, and will reflect on how social ministry volunteers serve most fruitfully by responding to the call of Christ and the Church. Bartoli and Piscitelli are sure to inspire as their presentation reflects their experience and understanding of Pope Benedict XVI’s social encyclical, Caritas in veritate.
