New Director of Human Resources for the Archdiocese of Washington

Deacon Dan Finn has been named as the new Director of Human Resources for the Archdiocese of Washington.

Deacon Finn has had a long career in Human Resources with Marriott International, where he led a team that develops, delivers and manages Human Resources processes and tools to support all of the Marriott hotels. He also has extensive experience in change management, project management, and Human Resources technology. Deacon Finn takes over the Director of Human Resources position at the Archdiocese of Washington after Dorothy Moore retired last month after 18 years with the archdiocese.

“I am honored to have been selected and excited with the opportunity to serve the Archdiocese of Washington as the Director of Human Resources,” said Deacon Finn. “Over the past year or so, as I prepared for my ordination to the Permanent Diaconate, I aspired to serve the Church in some greater way. I hoped to find an opportunity where I could use my God given talents and my knowledge, skills and experiences gained over the past 30 years in service to the Church. I consider it to be a great opportunity to serve Cardinal Wuerl and help advance the mission of the Archdiocese especially in supporting the people who work for the Archdiocese.”

Deacon Finn and his wife, Georgana, have been active in three parishes beginning with St. Stephen Martyr in Washington DC, St. Bernadette in Silver Spring and St. Francis of Assisi in Derwood. He served as the Pastoral Council Chairman at St. Bernadette and St. Francis of Assisi and has been active in the parishes, including serving as cantor, teaching religious education, organizing youth sports, and leading parish long-term planning.

The Finns have six children and five grandchildren. Mrs. Finn is a Montgomery County school teacher. Deacon Finn serves on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Soccer Foundation which built and operates the Maryland SoccerPlex in Montgomery County.
