Marking the Anniversary of Roe v. Wade: 20,000 Teens to Rock MCI Center During Rally for Life and Youth Mass

Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick, Archbishop of Washington, 20,000 Catholic teens and others from around the nation, plus dozens of bishops and hundreds of priests will fill the MCI Center for a Rally for Life and Youth Mass to mark the anniversary of legalized abortion:

Monday, January 23
8:00 a.m.: Sacrament of Confession
8:45 a.m.: Rally (prayer and song)
10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.: Mass

Nearly 100 priests will be available to hear confessions in the Acela Club Restaurant starting at 8:00 a.m. The 8:45 a.m. rally will feature performances by Christian recording artists and composers Steve Angrisano, Tony Melendez and the Toe Jam Band, and the “Who Do You Say I Am?” Band.

At 10:00 a.m., Cardinal McCarrick will celebrate Mass, accompanied by Cardinals Edward Egan of New York and Justin Rigali of Philadelphia as well as dozens of other bishops and hundreds of priests. The homilist will be Rev. Garard Francik, Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Music will be provided by the rally bands and the Bishop McNamara High School Gospel Choir.

Following the Mass, Cardinal McCarrick, the bishops and many of the youth will head to the National Mall at 7th Street for the National Rally and March for Life (please note new rally site). Cardinal McCarrick also will participate in the annual Vigil Mass for Life, Sunday, January 22, 8:00 p.m., Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Michigan Avenue, NE, Washington, DC.

The MCI Center’s doors open at 7:00 a.m. for this free event. Bus drop-off is on F Street; Metro stop is Gallery Place/Chinatown. Food is available from concessions and nearby restaurants.
