July Priest Changes Announced

The following changes in priest assignments have been announced. They will take effect on July 1, 2010 (information updated on June 24):

Montgomery County:

Mother Seton, Germantown: Two priests are joining the parish and two are leaving. Rev. Carlos Benitez, currently parochial vicar of St. Raphael, Rockville, is becoming pastor and Rev. Jaroslaw Gamrot, currently parochial vicar at Sacred Heart, LaPlata, is becoming parochial vicar at Mother Seton. Rev. Mark Ervin, the current pastor, is moving to St. Mary, Newport. Rev. Emanuele DeNigris, currently parochial vicar of Mother Seton, has been named vice rector of Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Boston, Massachusetts.

St. Elizabeth, Rockville: Rev. Andrew Royals, parochial vicar for Sacred Heart, Bowie, is replacing Rev. Brian Coelho, who is moving to St. Mary in Landover Hills.

St. Raphael, Rockville: Rev. Charles Cortinovis, currently finishing studies in Rome, Italy, is becoming parochial vicar. Rev. Carlos Benitez is leaving to become pastor of Mother Seton, Germantown.

St. Rose of Lima and St. John Neumann parishes, Gaithersburg: Rev. Jose Arriaga, currently parochial vicar at St. Mark, Hyattsville, is moving to St. Rose and also will have special ministry to the Hispanic Catholic community at St. John Neumann, Gathersburg.

Shrine of St. Jude, Rockville: Rev. John Nguyen, parochial vicar at St. Peter, Olney, is moving to St. Jude. Rev. Juan Esposito, currently at St. Jude, is moving to St. Mark, Hyattsville and Rev. John Clark to Sacred Heart in Bowie.

Prince George’s County:

Ascension, Bowie: Rev. Kyle Ingels, currently chaplain of the Catholic Student Center of the University of Maryland, is replacing Rev. Joseph Calis, who is becoming pastor of Holy Face in Great Mills.

Catholic Student Center of the University of Maryland: Rev. Robert Walsh, assistant vocations director and priest-secretary to Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick, is replacing Rev. Kyle Ingels, the new pastor of Ascension, Bowie.

Sacred Heart, Bowie: Rev. John Clark, currently parochial vicar for the Shrine of St. Jude, Rockville, is replacing Rev. Andrew Royals, who is moving to St. Elizabeth in Rockville.

St. John Baptist de la Salle, Chillum: Rev. Jose Signorelli, I.V.E., currently assistant for the Bishop Fulton Sheen Residence in Chillum, is replacing Rev. David Vidal, I.V.E., who is becoming priest-secretary for Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick.

St. Joseph, Largo: Rev. Roy Campbell, current pastor of Assumption in Southeast Washington, DC is replacing Rev. Grant Gaskin, who was providing pastoral care for the parish and is beginning the process to become a military chaplain.

St. Mark, Hyattsville: Rev. Juan Esposito-Garcia, currently parochial vicar at St. Jude, Rockville, is moving to that same position at St. Mark, replacing Rev. Jose Arriaga, who is moving to St. Rose of Lima, Rockville.

St. Mary, Landover Hills: Rev. Brian Coelho, currently parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth, Rockville, is becoming parochial vicar of St. Mary.

St. Mary of the Assumption, Upper Marlboro: Rev. Kevin Cusick, parochial vicar, has been named pastor of St. Francis de Sales, Benedict.

Southern Maryland:

Holy Face, Great Mills: Rev. Joseph Calis, currently pastor of Ascension, Bowie, will replace Fr. Joseph Sileo, who is becoming senior parochial vicar for St. Bartholomew, Bethesda.

Immaculate Conception, Mechanicsville: Rev. John Caulfield, currently a parochial vicar at St. Bartholomew, Bethesda, will replace Rev. Peter Alliata, who is retiring.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Lexington Park: Rev. Zygmunt Kurzawinski, parochial vicar, is moving to Fairbanks, Alaska for a missionary assignment.

Sacred Heart, LaPlata: Rev. Jaroslaw Gamrot, parochial vicar, is moving to Mother Seton, Germantown.

St. Francis de Sales, Benedict: Rev. Kevin Cusick, current parochial vicar of St. Mary the Assumption, Upper Marlboro, will replace Reverend Saverio Vitturino, who is retiring.

St. Mary, Charlotte Hall: Rev. Mark Ervin, currently pastor of Mother Seton, Germantown is replacing Monsignor Oliver McGready, who is retiring.

Washington, DC:

Assumption, Southeast: Rev. William Montgomery, currently chaplain for Archbishop Carroll High School, has been named parochial administrator, replacing Rev. Roy Campbell, the new pastor of St. Joseph, Largo.

St. Peter, Capitol Hill: Rev. Carter Griffin, currently in studies in Rome, Italy, is becoming a parochial vicar.
