Haitian Priest Returns to DC

January 24, 2010

Reverend Arsene Jasmin, chaplain to the Haitian community in the Archdiocese of Washington, returned to Washington, DC late Saturday evening, January 23. Fr. Jasmin had been visiting his home nation of Haiti when the earthquake struck.

Hear Fr. Jasmine share his experience in this video on the Archdiocese of Washington’s YouTube channel.

Since the earthquake struck Haiti, Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl has joined the Haitian community at two large Masses to pray for those killed and injured in the earthquake. In addition, all 140 parishes in the archdiocese have taken up special collections to support the relief and rebuilding efforts of Catholic Relief Services in Haiti; an initial check for $100,000 was sent to the organization within days of the tragedy.
