Donations in support of Haitian relief

January 13, 2010

All 140 parishes in the Archdiocese of Washington have been asked to take up a special collection to support relief efforts in Haiti. All of the funds will be sent to Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the international humanitarian aid organization of the Catholic Church in the United States.

CRS has worked in Haiti, the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, for more than 50 years.

In addition to the parish collections, donations may be made directly to CRS:

By phone: 1-877-HELP-CRS
By text: text RELIEF to 30644
Online: www.crs.org
By mail: Catholic Relief Services
P.O. Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21203-7090
Memo portion of check: Haiti Earthquake

Please note that donations of clothing or food are discouraged. Financial donations allow relief agencies such as CRS to purchase the medicine, water, food and supplies that are most in need.
