Children of Little Flower School in St. Mary’s County Celebrate Veterans’ Day with Patuxent Naval Air Station and VFW

Little Flower School will celebrate Veterans’ Day with Commanding Officer Glen Ives, and members of the Patuxent Naval Air Station and the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2632:

The 8th grade class will present the colors – marching in with the flags to open the celebration. The school chorus consisting of 4th through 8th grades will sing the medley of the “Salute to the Services.” The 3rd grade class will give a recitation on Veterans’ Day.

The school also is honored to welcome the NAVAIR First Class Petty Officers’ Association who will be performing a special, and not often seen, flag folding ceremony.

Patuxent Naval Air Station is a short five minute drive from the school where 39 percent of students have a least one parent in the military or who have completed military service. Three students have a parent currently serving overseas – two in Iraq and one in Japan.

Little Flower School has been serving the community and teaching children for 120 years. It has 168 students in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade.

The Archdiocese of Washington is home to 106 archdiocesan and independent Catholic schools, educating nearly 32,000 students in Washington, DC and Calvert, Charles, Montgomery, Prince George’s and St. Mary’s counties in Maryland.
