Archdiocesan Official Named to Governor’s Task Force on School Safety

October 24, 2006

Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich has appointed Dr. Michael G. Caruso, Archdiocesan Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Schools and Government Relations, to a newly created Task Force on School Safety. Dr. Caruso is one of 19 Maryland residents named, and will serve as the group’s non-public school representative.

The task force was established by the State Legislature during the 2006 General Assembly session. According to the Office of the Governor, the “school safety task force will study a variety of security topics, including the potential for natural disasters, exposure to hazardous substances, and emergency operations.”

The task force is to submit a report that includes its findings and recommendations by December 1, 2007.
