Archbishop Wuerl to Speak on the Papacy in Today’s World

March 04, 2008

What is the role of the Pope in the modern world? With Pope Benedict’s visit to Washington just weeks away, now is a perfect time to learn more from Washington Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl, who will give a free lecture:

Sunday, March 9, 2008
3:00 p.m.
Church of the Little Flower
5607 Massachusetts Avenue, Bethesda, MD

The title of his talk, “The Role of Peter in the Church Today,” references the first pope, whom Christ named to lead his Church on earth. Two thousand years and 264 popes later, learn how has that role changed – or not.

Pope Benedict XVI will arrive in Washington, DC on April 15 for his first visit to the United States as pontiff. He will visit the White House, celebrate Mass for more than 45,000 people, meet with the bishops of the United States and interfaith leaders, and address Catholic educators while in Washington. On April 18 he will travel to New York City for events including an address to the United Nations, Mass at Yankee Stadium and a visit to Ground Zero. More information on his visit to Washington is online at adw.org/papalvisit.
