Las Posadas Mass and Procession
The Archdiocese of Washington, in partnership with the Catholic Legal Immigration Network Inc. (CLINIC), invite you to remember the Holy Family’s journey by celebrating Las Posadas in the nation’s capital. This Latin American tradition recreates Mary and Joseph’s quest for shelter as participants get a chance to dress up, sing, and feast in celebration of the upcoming birth of Jesus. It also reminds us of the similar journey immigrants experience in searching for refuge all over the world.
On Monday, December 17, Mass will begin at 5pm at St. Joseph’s Church on Capitol Hill (313 2nd St., NE), celebrated by Bishop Mario Dorsonville. It will be followed by a procession to St. Peter’s Church on Capitol Hill (313 2nd St., SE), where there will be a closing reception and the breaking of a piñata.
