Ways to Give

Thank you for serving our community and participating in our YouServe video contest!  Here are a few examples of how you can make our community a better place:

  • Volunteer with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington
  • Connect with your Parish to find service projects
  • Help out at your local soup kitchen/food pantry
  • Offer to babysit for free to a family in need
  • Invite someone who asks you for money on the street to share a meal with you
  • Organize a neighborhood trash cleanup
  • Participate in a tree planting or a community garden day
  • Sign up to teach an ESL class
  • Help someone learn to read
  • Volunteer at your school
  • Volunteer to be a youth mentor
  • Become a blood donor
  • Learn the name of the people who beg/live on the street and begin to greet them by name‎
  • Ask your pastor the name of a parishioner who may be homebound and drop in and visit occasionally (or even offer to drive them to Mass or a doctor appointment)
  • Rake leaves or mow your neighbor’s lawn
  • Visit a retirement home and spend time with the elderly
