OYM/CYO 72nd Mass and Awards Ceremony

Nominate an outstanding youth or adult leader for recognition at the 72nd Annual Office of Youth Ministry/Catholic Youth Organization Mass and Award Ceremony. Nominations are due on April 17, 2017 and the celebration will take place on May 7, 2017. The Mass will be at St. Ursula’s Chapel at the Central Pastoral Office 5001 Eastern Avenue Hyattsville, MD. Award descriptions and nomination links are below.

Outstanding Catholic Youth Award (Male and Female Award), presented to High School Juniors/Seniors: 

  • Involved in youth ministry within their parish or the Archdiocese of Washington; serves as an active member of the youth ministry leadership team; shows mature leadership qualities among fellow youth; exemplifies Christian examples and dedicated service to the Church and is a positive role model.
  • Nominate a high school junior or senior here.

Outstanding Catholic Athlete Award (Male and Female Award), presented to individuals who:

  • Have been involved in the Archdiocese of Washington CYO Athletic programs, is currently excelling in athletics as a senior in high school or at the college level and serves as a Christian example to the Catholic Youth in his or her sport.
  • Nominate a Catholic athlete here.

Msgr. John Brady Award for Scouting & Camp Fire Leadership, presented to scout leaders who:

  • Has provided continuous and outstanding ministry within the Catholic Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Camp Fire programs in the Archdiocese of Washington for a minimum of 15 years; is involved in Catholic Scouting programs such as religious emblems, retreats, pilgrimages and service projects for Catholic institutions and has held key leadership roles on an Archdiocesan level and demonstrated leadership in programs and activities. Prior reception of the St. George Award or the St. Ann Award recommended.

Msgr. William J. Awalt Award, presented to a priest, deacon, sister or brother who:

  • Has been involved in ministry to youth or young adults for two or more years in the Archdiocese of Washington; faithfully lives out their call of service to the youth and young adults of the Archdiocese; exemplifies Christian examples and dedicated service to the church and is a positive role model.
  • Nominate a priest, deacon, sister or brother here.

Outstanding Athletic Director Award, presented to individuals who:

  • Have been involved in CYO Athletics for two or more years within the Archdiocese of Washington; have been recognized for outstanding administration of CYO programs for the youth of their parish and have demonstrated a dedication to follow the Mission and Philosophy of CYO Athletics.
  • Nominate an athletic director here.

Outstanding CYO Coach Award, presented to individuals who:

  • Have been involved in CYO Athletics for two or more years within the Archdiocese of Washington; shows mature leadership qualities among youth and fellow adults and lives out the Baptismal call of service to the youth of their parish or the Archdiocese of Washington.
  • Nominate a CYO Catholic coach here.

Outstanding Adult Leadership Award, presented to individuals who:

  • Have been involved in youth ministry five or more years within the Archdiocese of Washington and active in youth ministry on a regional and diocesan level; show mature leadership qualities among youth and fellow adults; have faithfully lived out their call of service to the youth of their parish or the Archdiocese of Washington and demonstrate a commitment to the Gospel through a lifestyle of service and prayer and exemplifies Christian examples and dedicated service to the church.

For God and Youth Award, presented to parish youth ministry adult leader who:

  • Has been involved in youth ministry your parish; shows mature leadership qualities among youth and fellow adults; has faithfully lived out their call of service to the youth of their parish; has exemplified Christian examples and dedicated service to the church and is a positive role model for youth.
