Archdiocese of Washington Annual Mass to celebrate the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Each year the archdiocese hosts an annual Mass celebrating the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Archdiocese of Washington Mass Gospel Choir performs a musical program of spirituals, Gospel, and traditional Catholic music celebrating our common mission to work for social justice for all of God’s people. The choir will also provide the music for the Mass which immediately follows the concert.

The Mass and celebration are an ongoing acknowledgement of our call to discipleship. This annual commemoration draws Catholics of all backgrounds from around the archdiocese. This Mass will not only celebrate the memory of Dr. King, but will also celebrate the rich history of Black Catholics in the archdiocese.

This year, join us for a special movie screening and discussion of “13th” a Netflix documentary by Ava DuVernay. The film explores the “intersection of race, justice and mass incarceration in the United States”.

The 2018 Mass will be on Saturday, January 13th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Upper Marlboro.
